"We're sorry to announce that Mr Isao Okawa, Chairman of Sega, has died of heart failure at the age of 74 after a long battle against illness.
Recently he generously donated some of his personal fortune to the company to help ease its transition from being a hardware business to a pure software provider, a gift that will hopefully bring Sega to fruition in the future.
Our sympathies go to his family and friends."
From DC europe - exactly. It's a shame, but I think SEga owe it to their late and great chairman person to succeed at the highest level and make gaming good again!

Okawa was the man who managed to turn around the computer games industry when it was at its lowest level. He did take chances, admittedly, but you have got to give him credit with his vision and when he gave up all his stock back to the company so that he could save the company, just as Sega made the announcement that they were pulling out of the market. A great man and all of us should thank him as computer games would not be what they are today if it was him who broought it out of the gutter in the first place.
