"Help needed with home recording"

Hi there,

I've been trying to record my guitar onto my computer using an 1/8th to a 1/4er lead and I thought it was going to be successful as I was getting my guitar sound out of my speakers - but then when I went to record the sound, nothing was recorded for some reason! I tried both Sound Recorder and a program called Adobe Audition but neither are recording. Any help would be Greatly Appreciated.

aha! It was my line-in socket and I had to use a program specifically set to record from line-in. Apparently Sound Recorder and the $299 sound recording demo i tried lacked this capability...

You connecting your guitar to the input on your soundcard I guess ? if so and your getting sound out of your speakers make sure none of the settings are on mute or anything, otherwise I don't know but it's probably something stupid (and really annoying)
