Did anyone watch it last night? Theroux is getting MUCH better at interviewing people like this. It was a blood-boiling experience to begin with; seeing these ignorant bigots happily throwing racial slurs around with pride on their faces. Tom Metzger was the main focus of the program; supposedly the US's most famous racist (though he has friends who are hispanic, and probably gets on like a house on fire with every black person who showed the self restraint not to kill him), though there were plenty of other assorted oddities (including Metzger's manager-cum-agent, of whom more later).
The worst of it was seeing various deranged racists raising their children in much the same manner. You saw these kids and thought "you don't have a chance". Worst of all were the two 11 year old twins, Lynx and Lamb (even the names should be enough to get Social Services involved) who were singing racist songs like some demonic SS Club 7. Yet their mother wasn't proud enough of the way she was raising them to, for example, let them go to school. Or publically admit to her racist beliefs. Or allow her kids to talk about them in public. Oh yeah; you just KNOW these two little girls are gonna grow up with some serious issues.
Happily, these people were gradually exposed as the self important morons they are; the 'massive' skinhead rally was attended by no more than about 100 people (and if they really do want 'the second American Civil War' to start in LA, lets see 'em put their money where their mouth is and try to start a fight with the Crips or the Bloods), Metzger turned out to be a shambling idiot, who's 'ambassadorial' visit to Mexico turned into a pub crawl, and who has deluded fantasies about how important he is (when few seem to care; before reading this post/seeing the program, had you heard of him). The mother of those twin girls was clearly obsessive compulsive in her hate of non-whites in much the same way as some people get OCD about cleanliness. And the skinheads themselves were angry fools who wanted the world to be at their beck and call, but were too stupid and lazy to figure our why it isn't.
In the closing stages of the program, Theroux confronted pretty much all of the major players in the documentary with their hypocrisy and stupidity. And he did it unflinchingly and brilliantly; the man has balls the size of Jupiter. I mean, how you you feel being a Jew at a skinhead rally. I'm non-Jewish and I wouldn't do it! I'd be filling my pants to record levels.
Finally, Metzger's manager. Ever see the Lethal Weapon series? And Leo Getz? It was him made flesh. I could watch a program all about this slimy, amoral, corrupt, but thanks to his ineptitude and nervousness, strangely endearing man.

What about Jeremy Hashen, sent to the chair for crimes against animals? Or Gordy Schoffelhoffer... what an inspiration to the people he is! Yes indeed, there are many hispanic sportsmen in other states who would also have problems with the civil war. I would vote Minnesota, if not for the fact that Rudy Coates lives there!

With regards the second civil war... they're idea to start it in California... not a good idea. A state were Barry Bonds is touching god-like status? Were Dominican imigrant Miguel Tejada gets fond farewells as he heads off to the East coast for a huge payday? Where Jermaine Dye and Arthur Rhodes are seen as the great hope of millions of white guys? Etc etc etc for a handful of other sportsmen, repeat for the film industry.
I saw a bit of it. Must've been the pub crawl thing, because they were drinking shots of tequila and trying to get some swastikas. Someone was shouting at someone else for not being there when he left the shop, because he's so "important" he might get attacked. Uh huh.

Didnt see it, only seen one in this series where we went to a brothel sorta thing, he is getting better at interviewing and he has technique rather than just script reading harry potter-ness. He is still no Macintyre undercover though.

Exactly. They didn't have a clue, it was normality to them. It did remind me of American Histroy X, just without the stylisation.

Gotta love that Metsky guys public appearance - massively hyped up, and all he did was stand and shout "white revolutioooooon, white revolutioooooon" a few times.
This isn't the first time Louis Theroux has tackled difficult subjects though, he did a show where he met Farrakhan and members of the black panthers about 5 years ago. He sat with Louis and said he wanted to wear a jacket made from the skin of white men...!

I saw it advertised, but missed it. It sounds a lot more provocative than his other shows about swingers and UFO enthusiasts. I did see a documentary a while back by the lesbo nun who didn't win Big Brother. The BBC sent her of to some redneck town where they have a militant group dedicated to keeping the family unit alive. And she's a lesbian. See the problem there? The group dress in dark combat clothes and pose for mean-looking photos, but I don't think they were militant-extremists - just a bit militant. They did happily advocate the use of violence for adultery though - that was the biggest sin to them. Proper renecks though, and it was clearly a front for some kind of drinking/gun club.
