The mother of Ian Huntley has said he should face the death penalty for murdering schoolgirls Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman.
Lynda Nixon, 49, made the statement as the former school caretaker began a life sentence for killing the ten-year-olds.
Ms Nixon said she had suspicions about her son and told them to police.
She said: "I truly wish we had capital punishment. I believe Ian should not live after what he's done."
She added: "He's my baby boy and I love him but he deserves to be punished. He deserves to be strung up for what he's done.
"I wish there was an electric chair in this country that they could put him in and that would be the end of it."
She said her son's actions are "unforgivable" and he should pay the ultimate price and forfeit his own life.

Crikey.
Now I have no worries in saying that he's a twisted manipulative figure of a man, but it's just the thought of a mother going against what should be her natural instinct.
Either that or the woman's messed up anyway, which wouldn't be surprising.

Ms Nixon, who was divorced from Huntley's father Kevin, 48, but has since been reunited, was forced from her home and into hiding when her son and his then fiancee Maxine Carr were arrested last summer.
She said they knew about one rape allegation made against their son over the years, but said Huntley had told them the girl was lying.
When her son telephoned her after his conviction Ms Nixon said she berated him and denounced him as a liar.
The night he was questioned by the police she saw him in the kitchen of her home and looked into his eyes.
"I just knew he'd done it," she said.
She added: "It wasn't what he said. It's what he didn't say. I told the police straight away, `I think he's done it, I know he's done it'."

"Forced from her home and into hiding"
Seems to make a lot of sense now. But still, can only speculate.. hmm
"Ms Nixon said she had suspicions about her son and told them to police. "
But the report I heard said she was unaware of any of the earlier allegations regarding underage sex and rape towards him. If that is the case why would she have suspicions about him?
Something is definately going on there, and I think Dr Duck may be correct.
I dunno what it is, just read the article and was a bit thrown.
Maybe she felt she was, and wanted to dissociate herself from the guy.
Just a possibility.

Not saying it's a definite fact, just that I wouldn't be surprised. Don't want to label her.
He has a history of underage sex, and I'm sure Freud would stroke his chin over that and link it to his relationship with his mother somehow.

How come? The crimes of the son have nothing to do at all with the mother.
