Last night was the sixth form christmas party. We hired out the function room of a local "social club" and when we booked we said we were all 18 so getting served wouldnt be an issue, clever huh.
So we got there and it was rather slow getting started and I waited in a queue for the bar for half an hour (madness, I know). Pints were a mere £1.50 and shots were £1.10 which by my books in rather good. Normally in my wannabe-village they overcharge drastically for lager, but not here. so far so good.
The usual stuff happened, 'so and so' kissed 'thingy', 'she' danced with 'him' and 'they' got naughty in the toilets. However there were a few out of the ordinary occurances.
They stopped serving at the bar for 15 minutes because someone walked away with a load of drinks without paying. He eventually came back to the bar, red faced, and paid the measely few quid he owed them. I knocked back Tequilas and cider (Hey, I'm classy!) until my throat went numb and one of my mates who doesnt really drink alcohol got absolutely and utterly wasted.
Now there is a degree of wastedness (Not a real word, I know) that goes beyond humour. He was dancing about waving his arms (hitting various people) and feeling up multitudes of girls. It was funny though as all the while he wore a huge grin across his face.
Everything to this point was happy and the sort of thing you would expect from a christmas party. However the bar shut at 11 and they tried to get us all out about halfpast. But some guy smacked my mate for dancing with his girlfriend and it all turned rather ugly. People piled outside and a huge circle was formed and there were a bunch of fights. One guy hit someone and ran up the road (about 500 meters) to a pub, and hid out there.
Fortunately, for me at least, I am a happy drunk and so didnt get involved in any fights - I comforted distraught girls and stopped various people stumbling into lamp posts.
A bit later a chain of cop cars came screaming down the road and started pulling people in and moving them along. Back at college today a few people have been "excluded" basically temporary explusion, and there are a lot of black eyes, grazes and hangovers.
The moral? Dont drink if it makes you angry!
Just been to "Senior prize evening" at school. Great fun....
I would of started fighting too though. Kick some sh** in to some people then say it was self defence.
