Does anyone use this? I'm downloading it now and want to know how easy it will be to use.
How easy is it? And, how time efficient is it?
I'm getting the 19Meg version, so I'll say what it's like in five mins, when I have played about with it.
*ahem*

I over-complicate things because...I just do. I dunno why.
1. On my machine, your marquee scroller is way below the black "About me" bar, and (as you said) too far to the left; it actually obscures the word "Description".
2. The overlap renders a significant amount of the descriptive text unreadable.
3. Just a thought/personal preference this one... you may want to put the size of your descriptive text up by one; I'm looking at it on a 17-inch monitor at 1152 x 864 and it's hard to follow because of the small size and length of the lines.
Speaking from a purely personal viewpoint, it looks to be on the messy side (only because of these problems, not your general layout ideas) and would possibly make me lean towards not bidding for your item.
In all honesty, why over-complicate things with layers? The problem with eBay is that if you try anything other than the basics, you can't really tell how it's going to look until you upload your auction.
The only way to test these things properly is to upload a test auction (there is a section for them, if you didn't know); the drawback to that is that no-one buys from them, and they cost you fees just like any normal auction.
I'm pretty sure that the layout you've gone for could be acheived relatively easily with a carefully-constructed table. Yes, I know everyone these days advises you to move away from tables for layout purposes, but as far as eBay is concerned, it's the safest option if you want to be certain of your presentation.
Because eBay filter so much that isn't standard, basic HTML, and you have relatively little control over the general page layout, I'd say it's best to leave the fancy stuff for your own website and try and make the best of the basics.
But these are just my personal opinions, and you may ignore me if you wish! :-)

As you can see, the scroller is too far to the left (there should be a "::" after .aboutme.) and some of the layout is a little overlapping.
You can't do anything really flashy I'm afraid - no CSS, and most Java is banned.
I tried a few bits and eventually gave up and went back to basic HTML and tables for formatting. Search for the username 'Paranoimia' on eBay to see my current listings.
When you enter HTML for your description, if I use layers, do you know if it goes all over the place when I actually put it up on eBay? I had to edit my last auction so badly as I used layers, and all the writing was all over the place.
Be warned, though: the eBay forums are often littered with posts from people moaning about it... crashes, failed upgrades etc. It tends to range from the odd glitch for some, to being totally unusable for others.
