Thats ok. Maybe post some test shots if you can, but as its for a present its probably not a good idea to use it. Maybe good to have a look on the web to see if theres any reviews etc on the camera just to make sure it is actually a good camera for the money, which I expect it is anyway :D but no harm in looking.

No probs. Amazon do it for £136.99 with a free 64mb card. Amazon are usually one of the cheapest places so I doubt you will find it much cheap.
Personnaly if you can get the Fuji one for £100 theres only £10 difference between that and the Mecury one. It might be an ok camera but it has no optical zoom which I think is pretty important with a camera. 2 mega pixels should be more than ok, for general photo shooting.

No probs. I think to be honest that the Mercury camera is a bit cheap. £100 for the Fuji is pretty good as it does have the optical zoom which is very useful, and as its optical it doesnt degrade the picture quality like digital zoom can.
Really the ammount of mega pixels isnt really an issue. The more mega pixels the bigger the picture and also the quality in some cases. I've noticed with these cheap cameras that the CCD sensor is less than the mega pixels. The CCD sensor is basically the unit that captures the picture. In a good camera the CCD is usually the same as the mega pixels or a little bit larger. In cheap cameras i've seen a CCD of less than 2 mega pixels where as the camera is actually a 4 mega pixel camera.

Will get an extra 64mb card also.
You will be able to get a higher mega pixel rate but you will lose the optical zoom. Also the high mega pixel cameras that are cheap are from these smaller unknown companies, they do look cheap and aren't as good as a camera from a well respected company like Fuji, Sony, Canon etc.
