A blind man is given a deck of cards in which 13 of them are face down. How can he give you all the cards back in two piles so that each pile contains the same number of cards face up?

I haven't been thinking about this much, but should have an answer by the morning. And it's not something pathetic, like giving the cards to someone else... so I'm told

I don't think so... my friend tells me that there's a non-trivial solution to it... see my hint

I just had a brain wave. With no possibility of distinguishing between which are up and which are not then even with amazing good luck there is no way of making an equal amount face up as the amount you start with with up is an odd number. It's a trick question no?

P.s. I'll kill myself if someone's allready answered this and I just need to scroll down to see the answer.

I suggest you read the hint... there are 52 cards in a pack, 13 of which are face down. So how many are face up? How do you split these into 2 equal piles...

HINT END

oops I meant to say downwards anyway as that means there are less cards to worry about making face the right way up. In all truth I dunno heh.

Well there are 52 cards in a deck and if only 13 are face down then the vast majority are face up anyway. Maybe if he simply counted them out in to two equal piles then he would have two piles of 26. If you turn both these piles upside down then the vast majority are facing upwards anyway but I have no idea how to make the number equal.
