I have got a Monster Gamelink 300, and it was going to be used when I got my Widescreen TV. And much to my surprise that when I setup my TV, no S-Video Socket!

So this is where I need your experienced help, to see if there is any way of making an S-Video Socket appear on the T.V or not, as I did not pay £60 for a Pro Cable that I cannot use, as it is useless when I have sharp sound but nothing in the way of Visual!

I know that I cannot get a Monster Cable that has Scart, so I am desperate for an Help quickly!!!

I ordered the Gamelink cable some 6 weeks ago !!!
The picture and sound quality improved significantly over the "bog" standard cable supplied with the PS2...
Highly Recommended !!!!

Thanks for your help. I have jusr ordered something called an "S-Video Adaptor" and that will allow me to plug that into my Scart Socket, thanks for telling me about it!

The reason I did not want to go for a RGB Cable was because I spent £59.99 for that Monster Cable, and I did not want to throw all that money away if I could help it!!!

It looks like I am the only person who has bothered to Order a Monster Gamelink Cable as no-one else has used one here yet, as I am waiting for someone to say how good the cable is and if it's worth the extra money!

Tandy's web site seems to have disappeared!

You could try Jessops - the web site URL is obvious!

What you're looking for is not a cable, but an adapter block similar to the one which comes with the PS2; it should have three phono connectors for composite video and left/right audio, but also an S-Video input to provide the better video quality. So you'd just connect your audio leads, and the S-Video plug - leaving the composite video socket empty.

You may be fed up with hearing it, but I still think you should go for a SCART connection. See:

http://www.vidgames.com /ps/hints/svideo.html

...for the reason why - detailed info in easily understandable terms!

If all else fails, Logic 3 do an RGB cable which also has composite outputs which you can connect for DVD playback.

With this Monster Cable, I also have the Left & Right sound connected to it. Is that Gold Plated Scart cable also an adaptor for the right and left sound channels to plug into? Or would I have to get a S-Video to Normal Video? (The video on the front of the T.V)

This is getting really difficult because I have not got this S-Video, but maybe I will have to see if I can return the Cable and Exchange it for another Monster Cable that is for the 3 Sockets at the front???

Thanks for telling me about this Cable, but is there a Tandy store in Bromley, and where is the Website for Tandy?
I tried www.tandy.co.uk but there is nothing there!

Is there any other places that would sell a Gold Plated S-Video to Scart Adaptor?

Oops! That's a bit of a downer!

You can get an S-Video to SCART adapter from most A/V shops, i.e. Tandy etc. If at all possible, get a gold-plated one - anything else may detract from the quality of your cable.
