I am thinking along the lines of Black Glove or Dr. Duck on this one but please all suggestions are welcome.

I have currently been studying Chaucer's 'The merchants tale' - I enjoyed it *don't laugh* It was highly challenging yet I will have to know it well enough to comment on in an exam.

No problemo - The problem is my teacher is leaving our school next week so to get a deeper understanding each person or group of two was given a particular title linked to the tale to create a presentation so we understand all aspects..

i.e 'Christianity in the merchants tale'
'Pagan references in the merchants tale'
'Marriage in the merchants tale...'

Now these babies are EASY and i would have no problem. nearly every page is filled with pagan references and christianity and marriage are the key elements to the entire tale

My title is 'The Influence of society in the merchants tale'

Um - STUCK! If you have any ideas of to what I could include - if you know the tale or not. Or any suggestion please help me for I dying here.

Not had use of a computer for the last few days, so I'm sorry I'm a little late.

Like BG, I know zip about Chaucer. Virtually nothing anyway.

But if your title is to look at society's influence, and you know about the religious side,
I suggest you try to 'interpret' (or 'expand', just be imaginative) the title, so that it takes you along the lines of:
'Examine how the religious beliefs of society at the time influenced blah blah blah'

I'd guess you could get away with that, depending on how tightly the essay needs to be tied to the specific wording of the title you've been given.
Failing that, I don't think I can help I'm afraid.

It's nice to be thought of as some kind of expert on past literature but I'm afraid I know nought|zero|zip about Chaucer - apart from that he probably wore a silly buckled hat and scribbled his writings with a feathery quill. Sorry Ginge.
