But it looks like the uni really has stopped downloads - trying to download some music now and it's forever searching, yet no internet activity showing up. Bah.

There is that. And there is also the fact that if Kazaa has its network drowned in a sea of subscriptions there are hundreds of other P2P things out there.

I take free file sharing for granted now, if anyone tries to start charging for it, I'm sure there'll always be someone else who finds a way round it.

Even if it is a monthly payment thing, they would'nt be able to disconnect you from the service I don't think.
And they wouldn't be able to send you a bill either, as long as you haven't put in your details.
