I've been hearing alot about the Government raising the price of Student top up fees so once and for all would you rather Students pay more to make sure enough money is going into the Universities or would you rather have the public paying higher taxes to fund the Universities?

Back to the topic, yes I'd agree that the universites should be more selective - but not neccessarily taking out the best, but on those who clearly have potential.

I was accepted to uni I think not on the grades I achieved, but the extra curricular stuff that has relevance to the course.

i think raising the standards for entry is probably a good idea.

my tuition fees were such that i had to sell my transport to afford this year alone and the amount of people on my course (computer animation) that are clearly wasting everyones time and money infuriates me. there's a stack of "i failed last year and thought this would be a doss" people, there's a few "i wanted to go travelling but daddy wouldn't pay, but he paid for me to come here so i did that" people and then there's the very few that actually want to get something out of it.

Blair needs to make his mo=ind up, on one hand he wants "as many people in university as possibl" and then he raises costs so that only he and his vast-salary mates can afford to send their kids (yeah, it'd be alright if we were ALL bought 2 flats wouldn't it cherie?)

I'm with VB. Degrees are getting worth ever less as more and more people have them. We don't need the amount of psychologists we produce, so make it more difficult to get into, make it completely free and have only the the best minds go there. Hopefully that would give a system where the most able do get to try and improve the world whilst not being a big drain on the countrys financial resources.

I'd make it harder to get into universties, thus lowering thier overheads and allowing tuitoon fees to be lowered or even removed, whilst tax rates remain unaffected.

I don't know.
But I'd sooner all unis were charging the same level of fees.
