Started reading this yesterday, and I haven't put it down since. It really is a fantastic book, really inventive and funny - like a grown-up version of Roald Dahl. It's just genius. What I'm saying, is that I really like it - got that!? I've got the next two instalments to read through too! Anyone know if it's had a VHS or DVD release at any time? I know it was pretty shoddy, but I've only distant memories of it from my youth and I'd like to see it again. All I remember was the funny guy with 2 heads and three arms, and I've been wanting to read it ever since (and now I am)! I highly recommend it.

It is rather good.

I'm indulging my humour in the 3rd one :D

Honestly, it never made me laugh out loud.
A few silent chuckles, perhaps.
Nor does Terry Pratchet or Robert Rankin.

And I've no idea why.
The books appeal exactly to my sense of homour. But ... I dunno, just never took things all the way to funny land.

I enjoy reading them, don't get me wrong. Because they're not serious or ever tedious and easy to read - but I've never found them hillarious.

Yeah, I finished it last night and it's really, really good. Easily the best book I've ever read. It made me laugh out loud loads, which is an unusual reaction for me to get from a book. Also, I can see where lots of modern Sci-Fi "borrowed" ideas from. Red Dwarf - Kryten IS Marvin, and Hollie IS Eddie. Just brilliant.

Mind you, having agreed with IB, I did enjoy Marvin’s ramblings.

Tis great and the TV series is pretty good too. The books are a collection of funny musings and ideas with a lose plot but it's still class.

I've not read it, but I've seen the TV version and heard the original radio one. It's excellent. There was a DVD release in January, I think, it was on Amazon last time I looked.
