Certainly. The mainstream west will hate it because it originates from a Japanese cartoon, while the rest of the world will enjoy it for the highly enaginative story it is.
That said, Hollywood will almost inevitably balls it up because everyone involved will have knowledge of the series limited to a 30 second flick through a comic book and a ten minute bash on a 10-year-old imported SNES split-screen beat-em-up.

Fully agree, but I doubt a live action DBZ will do anything to change peoples perceptions of it.

There was a live action movie about 10-12 years ago for DBZ. I remember seeing a picture from it with Goku riding across a river on the back of a crocodile or something equallt random.
Of course, it was a Japanese movie, but that's the only way you'll get the actors to adopt the DBZ crazy hair concept. Americans just won't go there.
