Apparantly the former president of Sega died yesterday of a heart attack. He shared out his 85 Billion Yen worth of shares to staff which made up for the 80 Billion Yen lost through the Dreamcast. It is amazing what this man has done...We might not, and probably wont, see the same Sega ever again.

I know Sega will survive this, not to mention be one of the major power-brokers in the future of gaming. It's too bad that they lost him, however. Though his company was marred with difficulty throughout its history, it's still been a guiding light of pure, unadulterated gaming passion. If only more companies had the sort of spirit Sega has had and continues to have.
I regret his loss. Though I will honestly regret the loss of Shigeru even more. Once he's gone, gaming will just seem less alive to me. Whatever drug they're giving Yamauchi to keep him alive, they should give Shigeru an IV of the stuff.
