If you had the choice, what would you choose to have?

1. A brand spanking new 128bit handheld console?

2. Or a brand spanking new 128bit 'sit under your TV' console?

Well, personally I would choose number 1, although your view may differ from mine.

And why do I choose number 1 you may ask? Well, it all came to me when I was viewing some pictures of the Gamecube, Xbox, Playstation 2 and the Gameboy Advance. The Gamecube looked like a square building brick, the Xbox looked like a long brick and the Playstation 2 looked like a flattened brick. You're probably all wondering what I am going on about with my 'brick' talk, but all I am trying to say is that all these 'next generation' consoles are larger and chunkier then their predecessors!

Relating this to the question that I asked, the Gameboy Advanced is a small 32bit handheld system. Which can be used anywhere! So, why didn't all these big game company's get their head down, work on a fast handheld and create 'next generation' gaming in our hands instead of under our television sets! I'm sure most of us would love to carry around the power of a 128bit handheld and play wherever.

Portable quality gaming, that's what is needed. Why did the 32bit consoles stop? To update! 32bit technology is old now; think how old it will be in 4, 5 maybe even 6 years time! Is the Gameboy Advanced 'advanced' enough? I find myself playing more of 'snake', no not on Metal Gear but on my Mobile Phone, yes 'Mobile', that's what is so great about it. Heck, even the price will be lower because there is no controller really, is there.

So Mr Nintendo, Mr Sega, Mr Sony and Mr Microsoft, whoever you may be! Don't leave us behind, make our gaming totally portable! It's a bit late now but think about it before releasing your big hefty bricks, power in your hand within your hands is possible so make it happen!

I don't think a 128 bit handheld would have done as well as a 32 bit handheld!

You'd need to have a bigger screen to be able to fully appreciate the power of a 128 bit handheld!
More buttons would be needed to fully use the systems power.
The games would be too long for a handheld to be used for it's purpose (to play games when on the move or anywhere)
The Gameboy Advance would probably have to be a bit bigger as well to handle all the hardware.
Also the price would be much higher to cover the cost of all the hardware.

It's a good idea but at the moment I don't think it would work!

The GC is indeed much smaller than any other console.

I do realise the gap between them my friend. But I was not using the example of the PSX I was using the PSone against the PS2!

The size of the console doesnt matter though. I talking about 'handheld' consoles.

Did you not notice the time gap between the release of the original PSX and the PSone?

Well, lets just say the PS2 isnt that much of a better size then the PS.

Hey, the power of the origanl PS is packed into the PSone so why cant they make the PS2 a bit smaller.

But that is not what I am trying to say! you still have to plug in the PSone right?

I gave up reading when you said that next-gen consoles were bigger than their predecessors. I don`t think that`s true.
