Hello, I'm thinking of doing some retro gaming from the PC's early days but require a compatible video card. The cards that were used back then didn't have OpenGL or Direct3D but instead rendered games with Glide or directly using the specific hardware released around the time. So, as I'm quite fond of the Voodoo cards as they support Glide, which was the best ever one looking back at the entire series now (Voodoo 2, 3, 4 and 5 with their variations)? Please consider game compatibility and power at the same time. Thanks.

I had two Voodoo 2's (16mb) SLI'd together, combine them with my AMD 500mhz processor my PC was kicking ass back in ... 98 ?

Quake 2 looked so good :)

Remember paying about £160 (ouch) for the first one when it first came out and about £60 for a second hand one a couple of months later.

Happy days.

Yeah, I was thinking of going for a Voodoo3 3000/3500 or a Voodoo4 and was hoping someone might come forward and say they're the best out of the series for compatibility. Now you've mentioned the Voodoo2 1000 I think I'll check that out too.

Ive had all the voodoo's and they still have a soft spot in my heart, But i also had and actually still have in a box somewere a geforce anihalator pro which is pretty cool, you really want to use a happy medium as some of the really old games may not work with the voodoo 5 5500 for instance, get 2 Voodoo 2 16mb and SLI them, this will be a pretty cool setup, although you can't buy voodoo cards new anymore as they were taken over by non other than nvidia a while back.

I've got a Voodoo 1 in my old P200 and it plays GLQuake effortlessly - even online over a 56k modem!
