This has got to be one of the funniest sitcom's in the world!! Whenever I watch it, I just cannot stop laughing!! It's also the stupidest comedy I've ever watched, but that certainly isn't a down-side!!

It's about 3 priests, and there housekeeper. The three priests have all been sent to Craggy Island for bad behaviour, and the housekeeper is just....there.

Craggy Island is a tiny little island, which has no west side, as it fell off. No one in Craggy Island is normal.

There's Father Ted, played by the-now deceased Dermot Morgan. Ted's actually quite smart, but he is obsessed by fame and fortune, and only uses God as a last resort.

The second priest is played by the superb Ardal O' Hanlon, and he's called Father Dougal McGuire. Dougal is surely the stupidest person ever, and he fails to understand anything. He is rather like a little kid, who loves going on rides and having fun. He's also very scared of women, and whenever he sees one, he hides, or runs away.

The third priest (and my favourite), is Father Jack Hackett, who is played by Frank Kelly. Jack is a disgusting priest, who sits in his chair all day, sleeping. When he's not sleeping he's drinking, or causing some sort of fuss. His vocabulary consists of four words, "DRINK!" "F3CK!" "GIRLS!" and "@RSE!". This is pretty much all Jack says. Jack has one bath a year, and likes small spaces.

The housekeeper is Mrs Doyle. She is obsessed with making tea. Sometimes conversations can go on for 5 minutes with Mrs Doyle offering Ted tea, and Ted refusing, over and over again!

There are many other hilarious characters, including the local shopkeepers John and Mary. These 2 absolutely detest eachother, and they're always fighting. But whenever any of the priests enter the shop, they pretend that everything is absolutely dandy.
There are also lots of different types of priest. There's the dancing priest, a monkey priest, a sarcastic priest, a boring priest and many, many more.
There's also the priests' boss, Bishop Brennan. Ted and Dougal are very scared of him, and in one episode, Ted has to kick him up the @rse for a bet!!

The plots of the episodes are extremely stupid, which makes it all the more comical!!
In one episode, the picnic area supervisor's whistle is stolen, and it's the talk of the Island.
In another, Ted does a Chinaman impression, not realizing that some Chinamen are standing right outside the window!! This leads to everyone thinking Ted is racist.

The jokes, gags and overall stupidness in Father Ted, lead to many fits of laughter. This is why I was so disappointed when Dermot Morgan sadly died, and that meant no more Father Ted.

But, I carry on watching the repeats, and I read the scriptbook, and it always makes me laugh, no matter how many times I've seen/read it!!

To finish, here are a few of my favourite moments from Father Ted:

"It's nice having a nun to stay," Dougal said to Ted.
Ted thinks, "Yes, a woman's touch."
Dougal is confused.
The nun walks in, and Dougal says, "So..Ted says you've been touching him."

Dougal opens a window in the advent calendar, "Oh yes!! A shepherd!! Fantastic stuff!! I can't wait to see what'll be in tomorrow's!!"
"Yes," Ted said, "I wonder what it'll be. Father Jack, what do you think'll be behind tomorrow's window?"
"F3CKIN' WOMAN'S KNICKERS!" Father Jack replies.

There is just a taster of what Father Ted is like. I defintely recommend this to anyone, and it's on Channel 4 and occasionally on Paramount.

Thanks for reading, Ant.

Father Ted is a superb show, and one of my personal favourite shows. My favourite episode has to be the episode where the milkman is sleeping/having affairs with the women on his milkround...The hairy babies joke is hillarious!
