Having just finished my Higher Computing programming project and thinking of taking Advanced Higher Computing next year (which will allow me to use any programming language I desire, not just True Basic) I spared a thought for the PlayStation 1 and Net Yaroze.

Net Yaroze was a rare special black PlayStation 1 which allowed PlayStation owners with an Apple Mac or PC to make their own games. The Official Magazine supplied on their demo disc the latest games from the "programmers", allowing the general public to get a taste of amateur programming and encouraging many to get a Net Yaroze.

So why doesn't the PlayStation 2 have a Net Yaroze? I think it will be an excellent accessory and, despite every game's producer saying it's rock to program for the PlayStation 2, a simpler format could be found to suit the needs of budding programmers.

Wait! you say, The Playstation 2 already costs £299.99 and now I have to pay another £100 for a Net Yaroze machine? Well, yes, you do but wouldn't it be worth it? While maybe not having the most stunning visuals, or a magnitude of options your game could be just as playable as those designed and produced by the big company.

So join me and demand that Net Yaroze be released for the PlayStation 2.

I don't think you'd need a seperate machine in PS2's case - just a PC link and the necessary software.
