I don't hate Playstation, I think anyone that does is just bias and can't appreciate good gaming when they see it, although I do prefer what Nintendo offer, but looking at this from a neutral stand-point I do think that Sony will be in trouble VERY soon. With such a rocky start I think that maybe the Playstation 2 has already signed and sealed its 'N64 II' gimmick. There were bad launches all over the world, and many of the PSX owners were dissapointed with Sony's PS2 performance.

But now to add insult to injury they have delayed possibly the best game ever, back a good 6 months. I know that they may have their reasons but surely Konami have sealed the PS2's fate. This official report from Daily Radar Says it all:

"Konami of America today confirmed that Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty for PlayStation 2 will ship to retail outlets this fall -- thus crushing rumors to the contrary."

Come on, and that is only the states, I know discs are a lot quicker and easier to publish so they may not have the same delay that Nintendo will soon have experienced with Banjo-Tooie but if MGS2 arrives in the states as late as November then the UK fans might not pick their copy up until after Christmas! Believe it or not Christmas is VERY big for videogame sales, I heard it was around 49% of all games and console sales were in the 'Holiday Season' If Sony can't ship the PAL version of MGS2 in time for Santa to fill his sleigh then Sony might just see the GAMECUBE go whizzing past in the fast lane. No doubt there will be some super titles for the PS2 before the Autumn BUT NONE, and I mean NONE, will have the effect and hype that MGS2 has. People have been on about this game for ages and the last thing everyone wanted to see was a delay, but this delay, which is showing more Nintendo charachter than ever, might just be the turning point of the vidoegames market especially here in the UK!

I honestly wish that MGS2 does arrive this year, because although the unbias me would like to see Nintendo shine, I would also like to see how Sony can combat the Gamecube launch with one game. Nintendo did it with Majora's Mask I don't know if Sony will have lost too many fans to return the favour but we will see. But for now, you can guarantee that Sony won't be selling too many PS2's at their current price with the news of such a delay. It might be Nintendo's Year, Nintendo themselves seem to think so!

So it is easy too see how MGS2 could indeed be a 'Time-Bomb' it will either blow up in Sony's face OR it will see off Nintendo and Microsoft and give Sony a clear path. I don't know what it will do and everyone will have diffrent opinions, but I guess we will have to wait even more to find out the answer!

MGS2 is confirmed for Autumn 2001 in North America.

This means a December 2001/January 2002 release date here.

Not bad! I'd heard it was April in Europe!!

No doubt MGS2 will be good and definitely a title I would like to see on the GAMECUBE, but what I do stil think is that it will have a VERY big effect on the PS2 sales both Now up to Christmas and Beyond! I can't wait to play the game even if it means raiding my mates house and playing it. I am sure most PS2 fans are excited too BUT regardless of how much popularity the game has, there is always that line, and if Konami go over it, they might just be washed down a river in to a certain creek without a certain paddle!!!

MGS2 was always posted for a 4th quarter 2001 release.... And surely it would be better for Konami to delay the release of MGS2 to ensure that its a good as it can possibly be!! I'd much rather wait a few months for an excellent game than have an average one now!

An example of this is GT3 - delayed over a year, it'll now be much better than it would have been had it been rushed for a PS2 launch release - we're now looking at a true GT2 sequel rather than GT2.5. And as much as I want GT3 now, I know the wait'll be worth it - the same goes for MGS2.

Probably due to Pokémon, but this year I hope it is because of the GBA and Gamecube! With so many developers signing on to development it is now up to Nintendo, how they market the GC and how they structure the sales will probably be a big factor in how well they do.

The Game said he thinks it might be Nintendo's year.

Let me just point out that it was Nintendos year last year with the biggest ever profits in there history.

MGS2 will be released after Christmas in the US as well,I am willing to say that asI know the problems Konami face! PDark had the same problems! remember

Damn I AM SOOO GOOD only yesterday I predicted in the PS2 debate that MGS2 would be delayed and created new worries
for the PS2, I said it was down to Konami not being happy with the end of the game, because apparently it dies down after the half way mark, I think I should win a game for being so GOOD! I give the news before it happens and before the company knows it!

YES I AM SOOO GOOD! surely this is a talent:

er-no's next prediction: Microsoft release the Xbox at a stupid price because they need to get money back from the amount lost. personally I don't think people who buy the Xbox in 2002 will buy 30 games buy 2005,therefore the Xbox will be a Microsoft failure. Microsoft = trouble!
