Hotmail is a registered trademark, I think.

Anyway, say you bought the domain McDonalds.com because they forgot to renew it, you'd have to give it back because it's a registered trademark.

You can't 'steal' domains like that.

The only case that I know of someone getting to keep the domain was Mr A. R. Mani who bought Armani.com and was allowed to keep it because it was his name and he wasn't taking it for the money.

He sold it a week later for over £100,000!
