Well, the event started on Heat with Tajiri V Noble for the Crusierweight title. It was so obvious that the Japanese guys would interfere and the fact it was on Heat suggested that Tajiri was going to win. The Japanese guys interfered, Noble was outmanned and lost. Simple. You can tell that the Cruiserweights have been told to slow down.
Well, this match would set the scene for the night.
Survivor Series kicks off with Team Angle V Team Lesnar. Cena's rap was short but moderately funny. The match itself felt far too quick and they might as well have not bothered with Hardcore Holly, A-Train and Bradshaw as they had all the impact of a sponge hammer. Matt Morgan did nothing to impress and the less said about Nathan Jones, the better. I'm pleased that Benoit and Cena survived but I'm a little disappointed that they weren't given much of a chance. I suppose because the opponents were just limited moves, fat, power guys didn't help either.
Moving on, we've got the Women's title match. As expected, Lita dominated the match. I was half expecting Lita to pick up the win but I'm actually pleased Molly defended although I would have liked to have seen Molly with a little bit more offense. Oh well, we can't expect much with women's matches anyway.
Next in line is the Ambulance match. The rules for this match is get the opponent in the back of the ambulance to win. Oh come on! At least make the paramedics carry someone out of the arena! They carried Shane out after that suicide dive off the staging. As I expected with this match, it wasn't much of a wrestling match. It was basically a bunch of weapons and crazy stunts. Kane had to win and he did, so I guess that would make this match predictable. It was funny when the cameras kept cutting out.
It's the tag team title match next. Oh, joy of joys! It's basically 'we don't know what to do with Eddie so we'll stick him in a dying tag division and make him have a few problems with Chavo'. Great! I think the sarcasm machine just exploded. The Bashams were always going to defend and tensions between Eddie and Chavo were always going to rise so why make the match? They didn't even turn Chavo heel! I personally don't want to see Eddie V Chavo. Then again, I can't stand this roster split. It's so biased to Raw. I guess we can't have everything in life.
Next up, Team Austin V Team Bischoff. This could have gone either way but I guess they are changing Austin's position. As with all career ending matches, we'll see Austin within a few weeks/months. This was probably the best match of the night, although that isn't aaying much. They got rid of the worst wrestlers early with Steiner and Henry (thankfully) leaving without doing a lot. RVD looks like he is going through the motions and is just doing his spots. The fact that he got pinned shows where he currently standing in the company. They went out of their way to make Shawn Michaels to look good though. Couldn't they have done the same thing with RVD? Guess not, as Shawn does a dodgy blade job and he defeats 2 guys and it takes another 2 to beat him.
Bischoff's team is the winner and we get the typical Austin beating everyone around him. It's always good to see the Coach getting a beating. We get the commentators sympathising with Austin because they are saying his career is over. Meh!
Buried Alive is next and this was everything I expected it to be. Taker dominates, destroys Vince (sho does a rather sick blade job), Vince does three things, dirt in the eyes, low blow and a shovel to the head and wins. Okay, Vince had Kane help him out but it was a pretty weak looking ending. Apparently, that's another career finished. Yeah, I believe that.
*kaboom*
I'm really going through sarcasm machines today.
Anyway, Goldberg V Triple H today. Someone press the fast forward button, read the paper, make some luch, have a coffee, do something other than watch this match. Dull as ditchwater and typical Goldberg/Triple H match. Goldberg sells an injury, Triple H exploits it, ref bumps, interference, sledgehammer...
Oh, I think I fell into a coma there.
Goldberg (surprisingly) wins. You can never eliminate Triple H as he can wangle the title at any moment. It's strange how Goldberg can make everyone look like jobbers. Oh well, at least he destroyed Evolution.
And that's it. I can't say I was too surprised. I wasn't much with the card that was given and the fact that morale is so low at the moment. We live in hope of better times.
Feel free to attack my rantings. Everyone else does. Hmmm, I seem to have become more irritated. Oh well, this is Grandprix signing off.
The best match was definately Team Austin Vs Team Bischoff although the Kane Vs Shane Ambulance match was quite good as well.
Hmm... And thats about all I have to say! :D
