I downloaded a song off Kazaa. But it's OK, because I fully intend to buy the album when it comes out. I'm a good pirate.

The real problem is that Metallica's record sales have fallen since the Napster era. What they fail to realise is that not only have their sales been decreasing, so has the qualitiy of their music. It was them who started the ball rolling because they're too stupid to see their music now isn't a patch on their first three albums. The record companies have followed becuase they fill up US record shops with rubbish, and so have suffered sales losses, because the real hardcore music fans couldn't care less about The Essential Britney Spears Collection.
Of course it's not so much of a problem in England because most shops stock a wide veriety of music, but I've heard in some parts of the US it's desperately hard to get hold of some types of music. Which is why England has taken so much longer reacting to the situation. I think there's a law now that you could get two years for file sharing, but I really doubt that's going to be upheld.
My guess is as soon as they manage to shut down file sharing (or as much as they're going to) most of the American music industry will go under, and I can't wait to see it happen. Why? Because so many people aren't going to pay up £12 for a new album that they've heard only one song from. It could be full of rubbish with the one decent song already released as a single.

I dont know what all the fuss is about with kazaa, when you download a song your down loading it of someone elses computer. Isnt that like the new way of borrowing a cd from someone. It shouldnt be a problem unless you are making money from it.

Why Classical is getting cool :)

I always download songs all the time...

I then buy most of the albums they belong to.

in fact nine times out of ten I already have them!

Ive only downloaded 2 albums, the fellowship of the ring soundtrack and the two towers soundtrack.

Oh please don't start talking about pirates. But yeah that's basically what I do, but I download a fair chunk of the album. Just to check there aren't 2 good songs and 8 fillers.
