Right you know all DVDs work on regions and stuff and we're in region two arent we. So, does that mean a playstation 2 will only play region 2 dvd's if it was bought in that region or will it play any region dvd's?

Also how much is a multi-region dvd player roughly?

It is if it can play DVDs from multiple regions.

Are you sure it's an R1 coded disc? Just because it's NTSC doesn't mean it's R1. Many NTSC discs are R0 (all-region) - such as Hollywood DVD (who do lots of older movies/B-movies), and most porn.

What I did was go to setup select video then region and it will give you a choice of PAL (R2)NTSC(R2)and auto(R0). And I can asure you my DVD player is NOT Multi region.

Its because I've found Malcolm in the Middle series 1 on dvd, but its only on region 1. I might buy it but It wudnt work on my ps2 so I will need a dvd player.

Unless some kind soul wants to make me a disk full of downloaded episodes in return for a hefty cash payment...

It's not illegal...

It is region locked, i.e. it will only play DVDs from its own region. However there is a disc that you can get for it, like an Action Replay disc that allows it to play any regions.

SR sell Multi region DVD players from around £50 I think.
