Well dont use Gamespy. Online games have their own servers. All the ones i've played I havent experienced lag. My friend has 2 computers connected to 1mb and then play at the same time with no lag.

I use Gamespy to find servers and I play on all the low ping ones. Doesn't make much difference though.
My in-game ping is between 29-39
