When watching a movie the music usually makes a big difference to the film. Big ochestral scores are par for the course in Superhero and space movies and fast paced songs with a catchy beat work well with any action sequence, particularly driving scenes.

The main problem with this though is the association with movie songs after the film has been watched. Many a time I've found myself going a little too fast on the road after hearing a song that played during a road race in a film, or as part of a fast action scene. It's easy, if you have a good (or warped) imagination to pretend that you're in that x-wing, heading for the Deathstar while driving along the motorway listening to the fantastic Star Wars score (or perhaps I shouldn't have mentioned that...hm)

Anyway, there are plenty of other associations we make when hearing a famous film inspired piece of music and really this can work well for film companies who want to promote a movie. Look at Charlie's Angels, the film company has really tried to get as many top names on the soundtrack as possible to promote the film. Whether these are really right for the movie is, of course, another matter.

Anyone else have music inspired movie moments?

Well, for one there is the opening title sequence in Raging Bull, and i no longer associate it with Actua Soccer 3, also the ENTIRE Play list in Goodfella's which was Geniusly used by Scorsese, and the Taxi Driver music because the guy who did it really loved doing it, well there are many, but the thing which really gets me is just any film with Robert "The Genius" De Niro in a main role just makes any mediocre film a great, a bit like any team which Luis Figo goes to becomes the best in the world,
