I read it first about 3 years back, but it has resurfaced on the 'net.

Yep, as I said, this is the one that should be filmed.

"Only in the hottest times of the hottest years" and they are setting it in the Antarctic?!?!?!?!??!?

Also, if aliens are indeed on Earth I've heard they are going to screw with the continuity of the Alien films further, in relation to "Why exactly are they looking in space for this xenomorph exactly?"

I have discovered that this is not at all the screenplay used for the film, and in fact it appears that the movie will be set in.... the Antarctic! Also stars Lance Henriksen (Bishop from Aliens).

That's reads like the first AvP novel, to be honest. The book was great, but I doubt the film will be, due to the way the novel makes good use of replaying scenes through two pov's. Should be a mindless action flick though, which is good every once in a while.
