during the conversation i said that it had suddenly become very noisy, locked up on blue discs with screen corruption etc., but didn't seem to mind silver discs as much although they were very slow to load.
upon saying this the woman then said that all ps2 games were on blue discs and as this was obviously a pirate (i think the term she used was "a copyright") then they wouldn't fix my console!
are Sony (as i suspect) talking crap. i think kessen is also on a silver disc.
any other silver discs out there?
cheers - Al.
you're right about the cretin on the other end, who also consulted a supervisor cretin before definitively stating that all ps2 discs were blue.
you're also right about it not really mattering now as it will be replaced anyway, but before refusing to fix a machine i would have thought that they should have checked the basic facts (or even better been supplied with them in the first place). although to be fair they did supply me with an e-mail address and a postal address to complain to, but this shouldn't have been necessary.
also top marks to SR for agreeing immediately to replace the machine without any quibbles.

Ooh, I'm getting a reputation!
You're right, the silver colour does indicate DVD.
Blue discs are PS2 CD-ROM, black disks are PS1 CD-ROM, and silver (or in some cases gold-ish, depending on number of layers) are DVD-ROM/Audio CD.
Still, as SR are replacing the machine, it doesn't really matter now.
Remember when you call Sony that you aren't necessarily getting through to someone who knows what they're talking about! I'm not sure about Sony's, but many helplines are run by 3rd-party companies, and it could be any cretin on the other end of the phone. Often they only have limited information, or maybe even a list of standard questions with set answers, and if you ask something which isn't on their list, then they're stumped!
By the way - anyone noticed that, if you get the light to reflect on the DoA2 disc, there's a faint PS logo printed on there? :-)
TTT, TS and SSX are blue.
The piracy thing is rubbish. I think its due to the DVD nature of the discs, rather than simply the blue PS2 discs. Try Wookiee Monster. He`ll know fo sure.
