What is money?

Money is little bronze, silver and gold coins or paper with figures on that express the entire life of the Human race, but why?
Money has no pratical value, I mean who wants coins, you can't eat them or use them for any particular purpose except in the monetary system.
The Government should give more money to profeesions that actually help people, such as Doctors, Teachers, Lawyers, Charity workers, rather than spending luicrous amounts of it on professions like Football. They wonder why we don't have enough money for schools and hospitals, when it is mostly being pumped into football.

Here is a poem about money:

I am your slave and your master,
You need me so and yet you need me not,
To have me is for grief, and yet to not is to wither and die,
I am the lord of society,
I have more power than God himself,
To be unethical and gain me is not a loss in those without me's eyes,
Have me and justice strikes with a rubber hammer,
Yet without me justice strikes like a lance,
I shield those with me a plenty from the elements and labour,
I am your lord,
Your overseer,
Your life.

Money should not be spent frivulously is the advice of our elders and bank managers, and yet what is it? A manipulative figure, like a voodoo doll, that governs us all, like it or not?
Money means so much and yet so little, those without it are exposed to terrible lifetimes, on the street begging or living in hovels, with no rights or priveliges.
Why is money so important? Is it because it can buy everything like love, happiness and a good life, or is this some deluded dream, a whistful hope of the poor, blown away in the blink of an eye. Money is the snare of many a mind, some think if they have it they will be happy and well liked, and yet those with it spend restless lives in constant fear of immenent burglaries and not being able to have the quality of life thay are used to.
Like it or not, money governs us all and can affect anything, form our quality of life to our justice if we ever do anything morally wrong or against the law. Like the old saying, "is it alright for a man to steal bread to feed his starving family?", this has become like the saying, "if a tree falls in the woods and there is no one there tob hear it, does it make a sound?". Unfortunately with todays law, the bread saying is obviously not aloud, simply because all stealing is morally wrong, or is it? Is it situation dependant?
Everybody has to have money, as it is basically the layers of modern day society:

1. The rich at the top as they can afford to have the best quality of life. Their money helps them with everything and they compete with each other, pathetically, for status symbols like Ferraris. Sometimes too much money haunts them, but will they help those below them? No if they can't have it, no one can. The "creme-de-la-creme" of society, only the select few who have reached here can live this life.

2. The mediocre, where most of society falls into, from those who couldn't quite make it to becoming rich to those who can just scrape a living. They are blessed with an education and a comfortable, not luxurious, living style.

3. The poor, live on the streets or in terrible conditions, most poor people will not have the pettyness of "keeping up with the Jones'". Yet they are proud and are not charity cases. Although with a poor standard of living, generally, they have their noses held upward and feel there is nothing to be afraid of.

(These are generalizations, just to show how money affects society)

But those with the most money are those in power or elevated positions, such as royalty or famous. I do not see why money should play such an important part in life, without money, we can't afford the things we like or have the quality of life we would otherwise want.
In modern day, though, all classes of society can enjoy the same rights and privileges, such as customer and standard of living conditions.

This kind of thinking really irritates me.

Go live in russia, and sit and watch while doctors get as much as fat 8-children families.

*ponders about statement*

The whole system of money is an practical one. Sure you could abolish it and live on the basis of giving everyone fair share, but then the rich and powerful would still get more, and no work would be done, and thus we'd grind to a halt. And if you wonder about the practical value of a pound, why don't you go back in time and trade in Hog's-heads of wheat.
