I have got my PS2, ready to be moved into the comfort of my Bedroom, but I do not want to play it on a stupid 14" Portable that I used to be happy with, but all the power of the PS2 would not show properly on a TV of that size. I have got about £400 to spend, and would like a TV at least 25", and anything upto 32", but I can not go higher than a 32". Who can give me the best advice as to which one to get???

To quote PSM2 magazine, which has a special feature on the video options in issue #6:

"If you want to watch DVD's with your PS2, you have to connect to your TV via an RF lead - which is the worst connection you can get, a composite lead like the one in the box (better) or an S-Video lead (really good), but not an RGB connection (which is the best)."

It also says:

"The solution is to use two different leads depending on what you want to do - one for games and one for DVD playback.

For games you should use an RGB SCART lead. The chances aer you already own one of these from your PSone. This gives the best image you can get.

For DVD's RGB produces a green unwatchable image, so you must use one of the slightly inferior methods of connection. The next best is S-Video. This lead will cost you about £15, but you may have a hard time tracking one down. Try a hardcore specialist game shop (rather than your local HMV). A PSone grey lead in a yellow box will work fine. Proper PS2 ones are black in a turqiouse box, but are otherwise identical."

Anyway, if you decide to stick with S-Video, you can contact the following for Monster products in the UK:

Just something else I would like to ask.

The reason I am buying it for is to plug my PS2 into it, as that is the best thing to have, maybe even for DVD's, but probably not because my Dedicated DVD Player downstairs with Surround Sound handles all of that already!

What I needed to know is that because S-Video is the best connection, where can I get the best quality S-Video cable for the PS2 from? It is really hard to find one, and as Monster Video does not ship to the U.K, I would like to know what the next best quality cable is that DOES ship in the U.K???

I had a look around my local Comet today, and I saw a really good Widescreen T.V.
It was a Toshiba 28" Widescreen, and even though it will set me back £429.99, it looked like the most best buy and perfect one for me, because I do like the Toshiba Brand and at that price I could not say no, even though I will have to wait until 16th to get it, as I say yes but my Bank Balance says otherwise!!!

I do like Sony T.V's I have to admit, but the problem is that I cannot really afford anything as expensive as that at the moment, so the Toshiba will have to do.

But any more ideas before the Deadline of Friday 16th will be very much appreciated ;-)

I have a Sony Wega 28" and it's perfect. Wil set you back around £700 though.

Be warned though - I have my TV in my room, and - unless you live in a bungalow - the size should be an important factor for reasons other than the physical display.

My Wega is *extremely* heavy and awkward to carry, and so is a real pain - in all senses of the word - to get up the stairs. I had considered the 32" model, but to be honest, due to the location of the set, I'm glad I didn't. As it is, the 28" model is a 2-man lift, and I would ever have got the 32" model up there.

Of course, it all depends on the design of your house, but I though you should be aware of potential problems which you otherwise may not have thought of.
