It could be like the game Star Trek Birth Of The Federation (Turn based strategy)
Instead of trying to conquer the galaxy you could try to conquer the games market!
You would be able to start as Sega, Nintendo, Sinclair (Spectrum), Sony or Microsoft.
All 5 companies would start at the same time with a small amount of money, a few games already developed and some contacts from other companies.
The aim of the game would be to either get rid of your 2 main rival companies (eg. Nintendo's would be Sega and Sony) or, to make it harder, knock out all your opponents and dominate the games market!
Random events may occur like board games suddenly becomming popular or a rival invents a craze (like Pokémon) and if you're really unlucky you may even get your biggest buyers brainwashed by a woman in skin tight shorts advertising for the other company!
Each company would have it's own strengths and weaknesses:
Nintendo: Quality games and consoles but lack of 3rd party developers (to start with)
Sega: Quality games but not so popular consoles
Sony: Huge amount of developers but not so good games
Sinclair: Huge amount of games however they take 5 minutes to load
Microsoft: Not very popular cos it's owned by the devil, sorry I mean Bill Gates!
Anyway, it's just an idea, I know I'd probably buy it! :)

Anyway, not all my ideas are bad!
