Personally, I account for my finances using excel. I have a pretty graph which sees me permanently soaring out of my overdraft this month, despite estimated expenditure in excess of £2,000. I also see £1,200 in my savings account, enough already to finish paying for my PC and TV, before rising again, by June next year to almost £2,000.

It works out the interestI'm earning on my savings, and on my current account and has a well modelled expenditure map which is fully detailed right through to January next year, and estimated indefinitely.

Excel is great, it draws all of my graphs and even tells me the gradients of the lines so i dont need to bother working it out.

I decree.

(It was meant to sound better, but it didn't, so this might help.)

In which case, excel has all the basic functionality you might need, but Microsoft Money is probably a better option, as it is purpose specific. But if you're good enough at writing Macros (excel is very flexible because of its Visual Basic background) then you can easily replicate this functionality.

There are plenty of other applications, of course, but for a start, Excel is included in the MS Office package, while Money has to be purchased separately (something a small company may need to take into account), and in my opinion, Excel is far and away the best spreadsheet application on the market.

Of course, the tax calculation facilities of Money should not be discounted.

Ooh, clever. You might want to search the web, although you could probably do something similiar in MX Flash. You can do everything with Flash. Which is why I hate it. And love it. At the same time.

Yes, a creative set of accounts for a small business sums it up exactly. It's a tiny model, that allows shop owners to roughly predict their yearly profits.

Look, if you're not going to be a little more specific, I can't help you. Modelling? Modelling what? A creative and functional set of accounts for a small company? What?
