I was wondering if the stands, and or position of the PS2 has an effect on disc scratching.
I am looking for as many replies as possible to this, otherwise the test will be pointless.
Simply answer the following:

1) Position of the console (Vertical or Horizontal)

2) Do you use a stand (Yes or No)

3) Do the discs have scratches? (Yes or No)

Above, please write your answers, in this form if possible:

example: Horizontal No No

It will be interesting to see if there is a pattern.

Vertical, Yes, No.

However...

My PS2 is a launch machine, and for the first week of use, it was horizontal (no horizontal stand), and didn't scratch any of the 4 discs I had.

Horizontal, yes and no

I read yesterday, think it was on here somewhere that scratches or nice deep grooves could be achieved if the disc wasn't placed in the tray properly. Well, I for one, could well believe this as there have been several times that I've placed a disc in the tray and as it's closing, I've realised that the disc isn't laying properly. I've managed to eject it every time before it closes all the way but I bet if it had, my disc would be knackered!!. It seems that it takes more "skill" to load the disc when the ps2 is horizontal than when it's vertical, anyone agree?

It is certainly possible that the scratches are due to incorrect placement of the discs, but it is also possible that the position affects it too.

I do not have enough data yet to be able to tell anything, so I will stop it here, and post this in the FOG, with the below results already added. Perhaps there will be more replies that way.
