I recently got an N-Gage mobile phone, sim free so that I could stick in my old virgin sim card and it would work. No such luck. For some obscure reason they only have internet connections for O2, Orange etc and I haven't a clue how to set one up so i am without internet on it which is really annoying because I was going to give my phone an MMS with an MP3 so I could play it. Unfortunately not though...

Tee hee.
After all those press statements from the bods at Nokia, this is how your "GBA beater" performs when released.

Has anyone got any N-Gage sales figures?
I heard they were fairly low on it's first weekend on sale, but apart from whispers, I've heard nothing substantial.

The REAL bad thing is putting the reset button to close to everything...

I hit it 4 times whilst playing Tony Hawks.

The most interesting thing about the N-gage for me is the appalling design for the game card slot. Seriously, what were they thinking making it slot next to the sim card? Surely a better way of changing the game rather that removing the back could have been worked out?

Oh, and I also forgot my other thing I hate about the N-Gage - the stupid name. Come on, it's not like consoles of any sort typically have good names or anything; and letting Jimmy the hard-of-thinking work experience div name the console was very nice, but could you not have picked someone without a taste for terrifyingly poor puns? If someone at The Daily Star came up with that one as part of a headline, they'd even fire him, despite the fact he needed picking up after his wife had just left him and he was feeling suicidal because his number one son had just come out.

And who came up with the genius idea of having to take the thing apart to change the game?

Nokia Exec One
I know - people love playing games on their phone, so let’s make a really good games playing phone where they can change the games when they get bored of them. That'll be so much better than having to make do with Snake all the time. Even better, because being able to change the game is such an important feature - lets make it as difficult as humanly possible with this hardware to change the games. Brilliant.

Nokia Exec Two
I've not said very much. Let’s have a sauna now.

It's not for an "obscure reason" - I'm only guessing here, but I'd say the perfectly logical reason is that Virgin don't support MMS or whatever sort of connection (GPS?) required to use the internet on all their tariffs.

Anyway - portrait screen = spawn of devil, immediate banishment.

The phone was made to play games...

And it's crap.

Nuff said.

Yes the mobile phone does work with any Sim Card however if you wish to use MMS or Internet etc which is what the phone has really been made for. I mean it's laughable as a hand held phone but as a wee gadget it's pretty cool. I had a Virgin Sim Card in my 8310 and when I put it in my N-Gage although it now works I can't get any pictures, download java games, send e-mails, send MMS until I buy another Sim Card that's either 02, Vodafone, Orange or...emmm I forget but I'll get one of those three. I'll have to if I want to use the mobile to it's full potential. I can't even get MP3's onto it's shared memory and there's this really good song I want but wont be on the radio for me to record.

P.s. Which is better - Vodafone, Orange or O2 pay as you go? The reason I got Virgin last time was because voice mail was free. Do any of them give you free voicemail?
