I dont have a PS2, i have a DC and im glad i bought it. The only annoying thing was that it took longer than i would have liked for the online gaming to begin, apart from that i have no problems.
Can you let me know what you think? Do you think that the PS2 rocks and it lived up to its hype? Can i have sensible answers, not ones like "Im glad i bought a PS2 cos it cr@ps on your DC". Adult comments please!
Cheers,

I'm a little disappointed with the lack of real classy titles as yet, but I did enjoy the "Kudos" of having a pS2 before any of my mates.
However, the point remains that I have spent most of my PS2 time since launch day playing texture-smoothed PS1 games, in particular Driver2, TR Chronicles, GT2 and FFIX. (by the way Final Fantasy IX is the most fun I've had playing a game for ages.....)
Now I've managed to pick up a copy of the GT3 playable demo, which is incredible....for those of you who are lucky enough to have the demo and skilled enough to use manual transmission ,try downshifting the RUF coming into a bend and feel the front end tuck in....sheer genius at work!
It's reminded me what I bought a PS2 for in the first place, and now I'm moving on from being a touch disappointed to being excited about what'll be coming out soon....and these are just early titles too....what will PS2's closing shots be in five years time? pretty amazing I should think.
I am tempted to buy a PS2, but i think i'll hold out til easter if the price will go down, hopefully they'll be some more games out by then as well.
I'd like to say that I think this is the longest thread yet that hasnt had a "My console is a million times better than your heap of cr@P" comment. Keep up the good work!

Is it worth getting one now... no to be frank. Rumor has it that the price will be £200 at easter. The sheer number of PS2's available at the moment says a lot. These are the consoles that dealers (and I think Sony) said wouldn't be available to Mr Joe public until at least March/April. They've been on the shelves since early Jan and not many are being sold. I don't think this is to do with the console, the hype or anything like that but purely to do with the disappointing number of games. Hold out to Easter for 2 reasons, 1. If they come down in price BONUS, 2. There are a whole stack of games scheduled for release in the next couple of months so even if the price hasn't dropped, consumer confidence will go back up and PS2's will begin moving again.
By the way, it was interesting to see that SEGA stock has risen 33% since they announced they would be developing 3rd party software. Is this the 3rd place????
Let me start off by saying if I didn't have a PS2 now, I would definitely have it by April because I know that I will be missing out on something special.
The games take ages to be released and that annoys me and so many others, but when they do come out they will make me appreciate them more. Metal Gear Solid 2 has been delayed several times now, some people say that its because they need to improve the game but in my opinion Konami are just waiting for the right moment.
Also, Grand Turismo 3: A-spec has been delayed but, but I’m pre-pared to wait as long as it takes to be released. I have been lucky enough to play the demo of the game and it was just amazing. Before I had played the game I looked at all of the screenshots for the game but they don’t give the game justice. You really do have to play it to fully considerate how glorious the graphics are.
People are really annoyed at Sony for delaying games time after time but it’s not Sony’s fault, they don’t get a word in. If they controlled when games are released surely they would want all the great titles to be out for launch, right?
I’m not disappointed that I didn’t wait a couple of months before obtaining my PS2 because 1) I had the money at the time, and 2) I knew I would get a PS2 no matter what, so why not get it straight away?
Some people say that the games out at launch are rubbish and that the PS2 is not worth buying, and I agree about the games not being up to standard but give it some time and I’m sure than in a year or so, the graphics will be improved tremendously and that the PS2 will be much cheaper. Hopefully all the games that everyone wants will also be out by then i.e. Metal Gear Solid 2.
As been stated before, the PS2 doesn’t live right up to the hype but I knew that it wouldn’t because everyone was just expecting too much for a console, but I am truly blessed with the PS2. If you had told me 3-4 years ago that I could buy a Console capable of wonderful graphics, so good you could possibly mistake them to real life and also a DVD player for just £300 I wouldn’t believe you because it sounds just to good to be true
So no the PS2 doesn’t totally live up to the hype. Still, most PS2 owners I know say that they are chuffed with their machine and think they made the right decision.
Some people are not a tight budget so I would advise them to wait until next year so they can: 1) save up 2) Purchase the console when some of the greatest games in history are out 3) and by next year I’m sure there will be deals like 4 games for £200 or something. Then you can have the best of both worlds; a brilliant machine and top-notch games to play all at a price you will be able to afford. Everybody’s happy! :D
If, like me you have enough money and that you loved your PS1 then I would advise that you go and get a PS2 right away. You will have a cool machine with an option to play DVD’s.
Warning though, say goodbye to your life though, because once you have witnessed the games on the machine, you will be hooked I’m afraid!
All in all, I’m very grateful for today’s technology and that it enables me to have a great time and experience wonderful graphics. Now all I have to say is thank you Sony for breeding the Playstation 2!
So yes, I'm very greatful to be in possession of a Playstation 2.
I do wish that they'd get the games out faster, but I have seven games at the moment which, for me anyway, are very good. Okay, they're not astounding, but I knew that when I bought them, and I didn't expect them to be the best the machine had to offer.
Anyway, I have the machine, and I'm prepared to wait. At least with the machine paid for, any spare money I get can go towards games yet to be released, without still having to fork out £300 on the console. For the 'astounding' games, I'm prepared for the dates to slip quite a bit - as long as the game is 'right' when it's finally released.
As for the hype - I don't think ANY machine could have lived up to it; but then I blame the hype on the gaming press, not on Sony. All Sony did was release specs, hold a press conference, and say what the machine was capable of - nothing that hasn't been done before. The press did the rest.
So yes, you can put me down as one very happy customer.
