I'm planning to drop my BT Voyager 100 DSL modem and go for a Modem/Router combo. Just wondering though, would one of these make it possible for me to play PS2/Xbox Live without the computer switched on as the M/R combos seem to have DC-in plug sockets...

Any help would be appreciated!

Yes you would be able to use the PS2 or XBox without the PC. As its a mains connected Router which I think all are for ADSL. The router is basically a mini PC, it is there connected to the internet. You can have every device turned off and it will still be connected. So basically you just have the router on and then the internet is supplied to what ever is connected to the router. Also if the internet gets disconnected the router should reconnect.

Well worth getting a router if you are getting annoyed with having the PC on while using the PS2 or XBox online. Also also better for sharing ADSL between a few different devices.

Sorry, DC as in mains power supply.

Unless I'm mistaken, you would plug your PS2/Xbox into the router as a network device using CAT5 ethernet cable - should the PS2/Xbox need internet access, the router would dial on demand (assuming it featured dial on demand!) I don't even know what a 'DC' connection is, unless you mean some kind of direct connection which I believe is used to configure the router.
