Cast your mind back to a classic movie opening sequence.

2001: A Space Oddesy

Bunch of chimps scrabbling around in muck being happy and content in Simian ignorance.
And then, one morning, there arrives a black monolith. This awakens instinct deep within this group of primates and violence ensues.

Now, flash-forward to Nov 24th 2000.
The PS2 goes on sale. Images of creatures battling each other to get their paws on a PS2 displayed with vertical stand…is the imagery connecting with anyone else here?

Before PS2 black monolith, we scrabbled around in the much, happily playing old consoles and everyone content to pick bits out of each other’s fur.
Now, with the black box in our lives, brother is turned against brother, arguments ensue and opinion divided.

I long for the days when we all sat around trying to catch our reflections and nobody had seen The Monolith.

3rd Place: Harbringer of Doom and Discontent.
