I have been using IRC for a little while now and i know nothing about it. I usually try and get help with my web-page but nobody speaks to me. Is it free to make ure own channel?

Everytime you or someone else joins a channel, that channel is created if no-one was in there already. If everyone leaves a channel, then that channel effectively doesn't exist (e.g. if you go into a channel no-one else is in, set a topic, go away and come back again, that topic is lost). You can 'register' a channel on a particular irc server/network - all this means is that a server bot sits in the channel full-time for you, and potentially provides a number of services to do with the channel. This is usually free, although it would be possible for the server operator to charge (although they'd be bluddy stingy). There will probably be a webpage somewhere where you can register a channel/nickname.
Yep it is. I think you can register it or something similar but it doesnt cost any money. There are a few rules for keeping the channel alive, like visiting at least once every 30 days or something like that.
