PS2 console thingy: £299.99
Extra Official pad thing: £19.99
Tekken Tag Tournament + SSX game (buy two save £10): £74.98
So I had £5.04 left over. What do I think?
Well, I like the box. I was told that I should buy a memory card for £27.99 but I didn't have enough money - woops!
The console isn't 'that' ugly - it's all a matter of taste, but I could almost here my Dreamcast sniggering at the side! Firstly, what is all this '11 pin SCART' nonsense? Can I get a better SCART connection?
I haven't got a vertical stand yet - but I guess I will if it's free. VERY HEAVY, and also rather on the large side - I guess it's like the Angel of the North: different, but admirable, although heavily criticised.
Testing the DVD playback...hmmm...well, the picture quality is ok, not bad at alll but everyhting is very dark - my Encore DV450 is better I would say. No remote control also. never mind! Gladiator looks not too bad on PS2.
The games? SSX is still in the seal, so I'll have to get back to you. Tekken Tag looks ok, but they've tried to cover up the poor character graphics with lots of pretty lighting effects - it's not as good as Soul Calibur, but not bad so far. I did find the controls were very slow - the speed should be a lot faster in my view.
Overall?
I think it's good, but I cannot compare it to trhe Dreamcast as of yet, but I have a feeling the PS2 will get a whole lot more popular with the release of Sega games on the format.
The Blue light is excellent, the machine attracts dust like you wouldn't believe - so it may look like you haven't played on it for a while, when in fact it could have been a few hours.
Too early to tell - but at least I now have the best of '2 worlds' of gaming.
GT 3? I can wait - I'm only on chapter 6 of MSR!!
Oh well, don't attack me please!!

Just to give you a taste of what it's like :)
Anyway, so far it seems as though Sony are trying desperately to make the PS2 games look and play better than PSone games - they're succeeding, but they're a hell of a way from Dreamcast standards - Sega's machine, although supposedly less powerful has excelled itself, but I'm still playing SSX. I await GT3 with muchos anticipation!!
I had a look at the demo disc that comes with it - Wild Racing is pathetic, as is Fifa 2001 (I've played the actual game too). Sorry rage, but there's no need to unleash your anger on PS2 owners! (sorry, hehe!) Or maybe there is...
Grix - too many clicks away yup. I am very tempted to go for the superb Daytona USA online - as of yet there is just nothing remotely appealing on PS2. At least Sega are making games for the system.
I better be off, 'Thank You's' to type and Art exams to prep for (doh!) so try not to forget about me!!!
By the way - BE WARNED of Dell the computer company people. I bought a PC from them - it was doing me proud until the hard drive decided to destroy itself - look inside the CPU and find horrendous sharply folded connector cables (tut tut), and now my new £656.83p 800mhz P3 PC is not working - so my brother's PC has been kidnapped...
Oh yeah - and Dell's customer service? Well they obviously think none of their products will ever go wrong, so they don't actually turn up to fix the thing...grrrr...
Anyone want some advice? www.dooyoo.co.uk - an excellent place to find about products you may be purchasing in the future - I will be writing a lengthy review on that PC.
Lights out for now, I have a sketch book to fill! Oh yeah, and have fun with whatever you lot are doing. If for some absurd reason you feel like emailing me - [email protected] should do the trick, providing NTL are awake.
(My new TV is faulty too...)
Grix - about those GBA 3D games? Well - it'd be nice to have some sweet looking 3D titles on the format, I know 2D gaming is alive and kicking, but I'd prefer Mario Kart32 - not Super Mario Kart on my 32bit 'future of handheld gaming' - ten year life span eh? Quality...
I leave you all with this... ÄÐÉÊÍóbææææÄï§

Anyway, with Yoshimitsu, try pressing sqaure, triange, square, then circle laods of time really quickly until the fourth kick or just before, then start hitting square. Its not listed properly in Yoshimitsu`s combos, but he does 4 punches 4 or 5 kicks, another punch and loads of sword swipes. Finish up with diagonal back and down, with square to do a final slash, and then press down and back with X tapped madly, and if they failed to block, "most characters below hard will fail) then they will be dead. If you are on hard or above, then they`ve probably already hit you. Anyway, its a hell of a move, and shows that the speed of the game increases as you increase the complexity of the moves.
(It's too many clicks away...)
> Yep - thanx!
SSX is rather good actually, but what other decent
> multiplayer games are to be released?
GT3, ZOE may have a multiplayer, and if you read my post on the topic SonicRav made, you'll probably find a few there.
Congratulations on your purchase - I hope BOTH of your machines give hours of gaming pleasure.
PS2's suck
Only through the fan at the back!! ;P
What about Z.O.E?
Out on the 23rd March and it's meant to be amazing!
