There are plenty of rumours that the PS2 is coming down in price, perhaps around easter time. This would not be suprising as Sony wants to get a user base that's as big as possible before the X-Box and Gamecube arrive. But this means that all those people who spent agonising months waiting for their beloved PS2's to arrive in stores will have paid a lot of money to get their's first.

Do you feel justified that you pay extra to get one of the first PS2's before everyone else? The good side is that you can boast to friends and say you've got one, while other, more cautious or money minded people wait for the price to drop. You get to play the first lot of games that arrive and everything seems new and original. The problem is that there still aren't too many games out there to choose from and by the time the PS2 does go down in price there will be a lot more games and support for the machine.

What are the reasons for getting the machine so early? Perhaps you just have to have every new piece of equipment that comes out, or your original Playstation broke down and you wanted something to play your old games on as well as something new. Maybe you were just out to impress everyone with your new console and have a good excuse to get your friends to come around and look jealous. Either way there must be a good reason that so many people flock to buy a new console when it comes out, especially as most of them know it will eventually drop in price.
