I can just imagine it, like in that simpsons episode, and Bart is a fly, and he slaps the spider, calls it a sucker, and flies off. The spider is waving 4 of its legs in the air at him in defiance. Perhaps your spider is doing that right now, from the depths of your drains...? :D
Good idea with the shower gel. Don't want the thing to come back cos if it did.... I've had trouble with reappearing spiders. Nasty little creatures they are.
