I run windows me. Now in any program if you go to File > Open you get a dialogue box, and on the left hand side of the box is a bit with buttons for desktop, drive C (hard disk), history and network places. My documents used to have a button too. But not now.
I have tried going to folder options and making sure the show my desktop box is checked. I tried deselecting it and restarting then reselecting it etc. Still nothing.
If I go to Start > Documents and above the document list is a shortcut to my documents. Except clicking it gives the error message:
"This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an associationin the Folder Options control panel"
Any suggestions? Is something corrupted somewhere?

I'll look into TweakUI. But it isn't actually a normal shortcut. Shortcuts have the wee arrow in the corner of their icon. Whereas My Computer etc doesn't. If I make a shortcut to My Documents it has the wee arrow, before it didn't.
That is another thing, in Windows 95 you could turn off those wee arrows. Can it be done in Windows ME? I can't find anything for it anywhere.
I plan on getting a new computer soon with XP.
