According to one of the old Doctors that's whose lined up for the role in the new series. Sounds like a bizzare choice, though also somehow fitting. Didn't really like Dr. Who the first time round, but Izzard is great... so who knows.

I'm guessing there's a high chance of the story being total rubbish though, the BBC's people have refused to comment.

If not, he can be a baddy.

Richard E Grant? Perfect. Brilliant. Inspired. Cast him. Now. Dr Withnail.

Well, as long as he mostly played it straight.

I personally think they should get a relative unknown to play the character, works best that way. The speculation is just that though, Izzard, Richard E Grant, Alan Davis et al are all said to be 'lined up'.

Rubbish.

Anthony Stewart Head for Dr Who. He can be Giles and advertise coffee throughout time.

I'll be seeing him at the NIA in Birmingham in December, too.

Can't Wait. For That. Long.

I got tickets to see him in Belfast in December - looking forward to it as he's great live. However, this time it is about £25, when I saw him before they had to off-load the tickets for a fiver a week before the gig as they weren't selling!
