I am holding my breath
Awaiting the transition
Between life and death
Repenting my sins now
Sorry for what I’ve done
The light of life is fading
Is it a battle won?
This purgatory pilgrimage
Leaves me with nothing at all
Am I destined for heaven
Or to hell shall I fall?
> Don't believe in purgotory
This life we find ourselves in is a purgatory of sorts.
Seeing that Mindfrig has got the poetic ball rolling, I just thought I'd scribble a fey little poem of my own:
NEVER-RETURNING
I am haunted
By the notion of never-returning
Of crossing the rubicon with a wistful stride
Leaving everything I know
Every thing I have ever touched
Far behind
The unknown entices me
Into its swollen shadows I yearn to roam
But where is that place
With its strange shifting sands
Is it here
Wavering on the brink
For this is where I dwell
Slowly losing my balance in favour of the fall
The never-returning fall
Into the half-light of the concealed
Will it signal the end or a nameless beginning
This is the question that sings to me most
I am holding my breath
Awaiting the transition
Between life and death
Repenting my sins now
Sorry for what I’ve done
The light of life is fading
Is it a battle won?
This purgatory pilgrimage
Leaves me with nothing at all
Am I destined for heaven
Or to hell shall I fall?
