Some of you might know that at the moment my grandad is not too well.

I have just come back from a driving lesson I was on an absolute high (I did so well for once)

I have just been told that my grandad has a cancerous lump on the cellebrum (sp?!)
Well, He has to have radioterapy he is 78 years of age so any surgery is not really an option here.

Thing is he has been dealing with cancer to the prostate and stomach for over 15 years, he has emphesemia, asthma, bronchitis a completely dodgy knee and he has to have oxygen all time.
He has had what i call 'borrowed time' as really it's amazing how we have been blessed with his presence for this long.
Now my nan has been told that he could have as little as three months to live. If things go well then hopefully 6 - 9.

I knew it was coming but you just still can't prepare yourself can you?
He does not know yet, Nan hasn't told him I don't think she wants him to know but while everything else about him physically has gone up the shoot..mentally he is still as sain a cockney as ever!
I want him to know and he is clever - he will either work it out or someone will tell him. (i would want to know)

My boyfriend is working at the moment. I don't 'talk' to people bout my problems so to let off some steam I am posting in here guys again.

In perspective look at what my gramps has achieved..

At the age of eighteen he was shipped off to egypt to repair planes and things for the RAF - very dangerous time he managed to get through and serve his country.

He married a beautifull woman about 8 years younger and this year he had his golden anniversary with the same woman (50 years)

He has worked hard as a husband and Father getting himself out of east london and moving further into the country for a better way of life for everyone.

Had two Boy's and now has 5 grandchildren.

My grandad is truly amazing, he is never boring strangely enough everyone is always fascinated and amused by him

He is one in a million and I never want to loose him. Selfish but I am blessed to have been a part of his life.

I love you grandad

FM sounds like you had a similar grandad to me! Grandparents are fantastic and everyone who still has them should take time to listen to their stories. People from earlier generations have had so much more of an interesting life.

Can you think of a life without TV, with just radio to comfort you? A time when this country or your own life were in danger? Can you imagine living in a house with no electricity or having to live on strict rations? Where today people may complain all the time, people then got on with their lives and were probably blessed with richer lives for it.

So, take time while you can to find out about your family and remember that they will still be with you when they go, all you have to do is remember them...

I never really know what to say at times like this.

But I'll be here to listen, if you want.

I lost both sets of grandparents years ago. If it's any consolation I still fondly remember one grandad teaching me how to play chess, another telling me about the pixies in the house at the bottom of the garden, one of my nans teaching me how to make sausage rolls, the other taking me to caddy for her whilst she played golf.

So they're always there in a sense, we're always immortal whilst someone remembers us.

If he can get past christmas i think that would be a better time to go. You always miss people more at christmas.

Your grandad has had a good innings. Heck i have no memories of either of my grandads, and for about 4 years ive only had 1 granny.

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
Excellent support service!
I have always found the support staff to provide an excellent service on every occasion I've called.
