Yeah, the live version is also great, but the solo doesn't have the same impact due to the delay and also the contrast in the studio version between the relaxed, laid back first half and the rockin' solo and afterwards. Long sentence, was that.

The solo at the end of Hotel California is indeed great. As is the one at the end of "Since You've Been Gone" by Rainbow, the one in "Stripsearch" by Faith No More and the very, very short one in "Australia" by Manic Street Preachers.
