Interesting article about the man and the company behind the Phantom games console. Sounds very dodgy to me.
"We were surprised that there wasn't even an office at the address listed for Infinium Labs. The use of a post office box as the main contact point for Infinium Labs was very surprising as well. We spoke to Mr. Roberts today and he confirmed that there are currently no physical offices for the Infinium Corporation, but he assures us that they are on the way. Combine these elements with a past history of bankruptcies and failed business ventures, and it paints a very bleak picture of the possible success of this company."

a good point but many games are cheap now, loads of PS2 games are £20 or less and older PC games can be very cheap.
I said before, only great value could save the Phantom.

I can go down town and buy a game from Dixons or Choices within minutes of leaving my house so downloading is much slower and is also more unreliable.
Also when i'm bored of a boxed game I can sell it or if it was faulty when I bought it I can return it to the shop with the receipt, you can't do that with a downloaded game plus there must be a limited amount of hard drive space to store games on.
I think its quite possibly a fake as it would make no sense to try to enter the console market at this stage, unless it was to be more powerfull than the current consoles out at the moment.

Thing about that is that people don't see how much quicker it will be to get games. Apparantly from what a few people suggested in comment mail order takes only about 2 hours, because OBVIOUSLY downloading a game with a 500k broadband doesn't take aslong as waiting 3 days for it to drop through your door.
And another thing, I've hardly seen any marketing of this so called Phantom console so with it's target customer been broadband uses which are in short supply as it is in the UK, only a fraction of them will know it even exists and even less will choose it over PC, PS2 or Xbox.
