The problem is, one of my computers keeps crashing and it really shouldn't. It's specs are quite good, 512mb RAM and a 1100Mhz processor. However it crashes with the simplest tasks, such as opening the Start menu when another program is open.
I put it down to there being too many programs running at once and so I was wondering if you guys could tell me which ones I could shut down using Ctrl-Alt-Delete.
Here's the list of them:
Explorer
Rundll32
Loadqm
Mrtmngr
Systray
NProtect
Cg16eh
Cgmenu
If anyone know what any of them do, if they can be shut down with the PC still working or whatever, please reply.
(By the way it's Windows 98)
I just do :p

You're in a minority of one. Win98 has no redeeming features over WinXP, other than it works with a slightly bigger range of software.

I guess that when my computer stopped crashing as soon as i got XP it was all a coincidence then.

Out of those programs, you can clsoe the folowing without any problems:
- Loadqm
- Mrtmngr
- Nprotect
- Cg16eh
- Cgmenu
In more detail:
- Loadqm basically has something to do with QuickMedia, I think, like Quicktime Player, but I'm not sure
- Mrtmngr is basically a messenger program like MSNM.
- NProtect is your Norton System Utilities protection for your recycle bin and other protected files
- Cg16eh is Crash Guard which is a part of Norton System Utilities
- Cgmenu is basically the ico nand menu which appear in the systray (bottom right corner) when CrashGuard is enabled

Yeah. I used to have windows 98 and it crashed on average 3 times a day. Got XP and it's yet to crash (got XP in March)

I think we have isolated the problem.
