Okay people. Does everyone agree that console names are a bit too rushed now-a-days?
Nintendo. A great company but made wierd names for their consoles. NES - Nintendo Entertainment System. Is that a little too obvious what it is? They basicly said what the thing is in its name.
Console number 2 by nintendo was not any better. Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) sounds like the person who made the name couldnt think of a great name to call anything. I would like to know what his son/daughters name is ( Probably called them by their Gender - Girl, Boy).

Playstation. Hehe - to me it sounds like a train station which Gay people stay - Not to offend anyone, of course.
Playstation 2. Is this the next station the train stops at?
Game boy Advance. Why call it that? They could change the words around or change the whole title to make it better.
Just think. Advanced game boy, Game boy advanced.
Gamecube. I would have prefered Dolphin. Dolphins are intelligent so this name could of symbolised the consoles brilliant graphics, and the ideas of the games which go into it.
But I agree with you if you say Dont judge a book by its cover, or in this case Dont judge a console by its name because consoles have great games. What would future consoles be called. Playstation 3 - the very next stop?
Or nintendo could name their next console Super Gamecube.
Gameboy advance could end up bieng called Pocket Gameboy advance.

Nintendo haven't come up with interesting names very much.
Gameboy was pure genius but the consoles sold based on the games, not the consoles names.
Sega have always been great at naming consoles.
Mega Drive, Master System, Game Gear, Saturn, and Dreamcast.
The name Playstation was also a genius name but after calling the next one Playstation 2, Sony have clearly run out of ideas!

Well at least the names show what they are set in mind, Dreamcast sounds like a console that brings great games, PS2 sounds like aa multi-useable console and the GameCube soundsl like a games beased console, simple.
