I think people stay in the house too much.

I like walking. I'm lucky, I live in the countryside, I can go for a wander whenever I like. Fields surround my village. And it's good. I think it's a very healthy thing to do.

Not the physical side, but the mental side. When you walk, your surroundings change. That sounds simple, but it makes a big difference. You havn't been pre-programmed to react in certain ways. I'll try to clarify what I mean by that. You know your house. You know how it sounds, you know how everything reacts. You have your system, the things you do inside the house without thinking. You don't have to think.

Spending a day inside can be like wandering around in a daze.

Outside, though, your scenery changes. This sounds silly, but it frees you to think. Your thoughts can fly. Because you're not comfortable. You're reacting to different stimulus.

Thoughts?

I'm stupid, I live a lovely 'middle-of-nowhere' town but I just never make any tiem to just look around.

I completely understand what you mean, though.

I too live in the country side of South Yorkshire, i do enjoy walking, but i much prefer cycling, and around here there are plenty of off road trials to use, and then you can often make your own routes up. Im extremely lucky to live here.

I also agree with whats been said, that i do feel that when you go for walks or cycling, it enables you to think more freely. You can clear your head, and often, for me anyway, it makes me feel good. Some of the scenery around here is maginicent, and can only make you feel good about life.
